St. Albans
Water and Sewer Authority is proceeding with construction of a new
deep well, well house and water main as well as a new 500,000 gallon
elevated leg tank as a program of continuing water improvements
for the residents of St. Albans.
Construction, as part of the St. Albans Water and Sewer Authority
is continuing on schedule. The booster pump station has been relocated
and the location of the SCADA system telemetry towers has been agreed
upon. Although the new well has not yet been put into service, a
test run of the well was conducted in late June. Steel for the new
storage tank has been delivered to the tower site with an anticipated
completion date for the erection of the tower by early August. The
contractors working on the projects are: T. Drury Contracting, Inc.
and Caldwell Tank. The water system improvements will cost $1,563,000.
Financing is separate from the Water District and is provided through
bonds issued by the St. Albans Water and Sewer Authority. Project
costs do not impact Water District rates.
The water system improvement projects in St. Albans are planned
to be completed by late Fall of 2010. When complete, residents will
have a redundant water source and supply, greater water storage
volumes, an emergency power supply and increased water pressure
in the higher elevations of the water service area. Alliance Water
Resources will continue to perform operations and maintenance of
the water system and assist with start-up activities. For questions
